1. The simple past tense: Thì quá khứ đơn

       - Một hành động đã xảy ra và kết thúc trong quá khứ.

               Ex: I went shopping yesterday.

                     He lived in Hanoi from 1980 t0 2002.

       - Một thói quen trong quá khứ.

            Ex: When I was young, I often went swimming with my friends in this river.          

* Dấu hiệu nhận biết:

Trong câu thường có các từ: yesterday ________ ( yesterday morning, yesterday afternoon,…….), thời gian + ago ( two years ago, four months ago, ….), last + thời gian ( last year, last night, last week, last month….), in + thời gian trong quá khứ (in 1975, in 1998…)

Mong ước không thật ở hiện tại:

Khẳng định:   S + wish(es) + S + V2/-ed + O          (to be: were / weren’t)

Ex: I can’t swim.  I wish I could swim.

Mong ước không thật trong tương lai

Ex: She won’t come to my birthday party next week.

   I wish she would come to my birthday party.
